Latest News . . .

Already this year we have had talks on the production of tea and of cheese, we have been entertained by a local choir and by a magician, we have reminisced over the 1960’s and we have enjoyed an outing for a cream tea. We are anticipating a lively programme of events for the rest of the year which will include our birthday party in October and our pre-Christmas celebrations.

Our meeting dates for the rest of the year are:

August 15th and 29th

September 19th

October 3rd, 17th and 31st

November 14th and 28th

December 12th

The Kings Langley Evergreen Club is a social club for the over 55’s.

It normally meets fortnightly on Thursday afternoons at the Community Centre in the Nap.

Our meetings are relaxed and friendly and are varied in nature, with something for everyone, as indicated in our information leaflet which is reproduced here. Members pay an annual subscription of £5 and £3.00 for each meeting they attend.  We have volunteers on hand to talk with and to assist members in the hall and we are able to provide transport for members to the Club, again, thanks to volunteer drivers. All our volunteers have recent DBS checks.

The picture above was taken at our meeting in early December 2021 and shows one group of members making their own Christmas decorations from a variety of materials which were provided. On the right are examples of finished decorations made by different members.

A little history

The Club was formed in 1952. At it’s peak, in the 1960’s it had over 150 members. Membership declined over the years and in 2011 a new management team was recruited and the Club now has over 40 paid up members. A significant number of people are involved with both the Club and with Kings Langley Good Neighbours, and in 2015 a ‘partnership agreement’ was made between the two organisations. Each organisation is independent, but co-operates with and assists the other whenever possible. An example of this is the presence of this page on this website, and we are very grateful to KL Good Neighbours for helping us in this way.
